In Search of Friendship: The Challenge

On the hunt for the quintessential photo to portray "friendship" as I see it.

Crystal and I head off to Navy Pier, for some good ol' fashioned Chicago fun! Navy Pier is a Chicago tourism favorite, filled with silly shows, thrilling speedster boat rides, carnival style booths and games, sweet treats and most recognizable, a ferris wheel the height of a 14 story building! I took this one! It's my favorite of the day.

It was a foggy day with horrible photography conditions, so was not too hopeful about winning that sweet t-shirt up for grabs, in fact I almost gave up altogether. I mean, these kids are crazy talented and nothing I could snap would ever stand up to their sweet skills (said with a Dynamite-esk slur).

However, I already committed myself, so I continued with the challenge. First off, Crystal and I looked everywhere for a chance to enjoy a couple of mojitos, but settled for some delicious fried dough.... mmmmm delicious! Until the warf flies started landing in the sticky chocolate syrup... needless to say, we tossed our "friendship dessert" into the trash. Back to the drawing board.
Then we had a little fun in front of the funhouse mirrors. I smell friendship!
But Crystal didn't really enjoy the way the mirror accentuated our hips! ;)

And finally, already running late for work, we both agreed the adventure wouldn't be complete without a ride on the famous ferris wheel!

The most beautiful view of the Chicago skyline, and I had to be on the top of the ferris wheel on the perfect "June Gloom" day. So frustrating! I felt defeated as I had looked all day for the perfect opportunity to present itself. And then I noticed this tagged on the seat of the gondola. It couldn't have defined the day any better...
I smiled at Crystal and she smiled back. Ok, so maybe I am limited in my photo skills and maybe Chicago NEVER provides the right lighting for a perfect photo shoot, but I have quickly learned that it never seems to matter. It's all about the Adventure!

And of course no Adventure would be complete without a souvenir:

Pretty sweet tattoo, huh mom?

I did it, you should too!
