I'll admit.
I am NOT a baker. I mean, I can get on the stove and whip up some easy butternut squash spaghetti or shrimp fajitas or zucchini wrapped halibut, but cookies. They are beyond me.
It all started out so well. I had a pre-made Christmas cookie package with all the dry ingredients that I had avoided making all year. It's kinda hard to follow the precise baking directions when you have lost the recipe (mistake #1). So I guessed on the rest of the wet ingredients that were needed, 2 eggs, 2 sticks butter, teaspoon vanilla.... that all sounds about right (mistake #2). Too bad I guessed based on a chocolate chip recipe rather than a chocolate cookie recipe (mistake #3).
So now I have gotten this far in the baking process, there's no turning back now... I will talk you through the rest of my instructions so you too can make these delicious treats at home. Toss it in the oven for a guesstimate of about....oh I don't know, maybe 11 minutes, no make that 13 (mistake #4) Wait impatiently.
Serve immediately to distracted husband and do not tell him of your many baking faux pas! Check his facial expression while eating so as to be sure he will not die, then casually ask, what do you think?
uh, they're good babe... no thanks, I don't really feel like having another.
So now I have a full batch of chocolate chip cowpies. yuck! Hey, I have an idea, maybe my landlord would appreciate a treat. I have been trying to butter him up, to convince him to let us get a dog... mwaaahahahaha!
